Stand with us to eliminate food deserts in Kansas City.
This is our protest, and it’s time to address the reasons we exist. Kanbe’s was built on two simple ideas. First, systems create outcomes; good, bad, or otherwise, those outcomes cannot be changed without changing the system. Second, our food system is a powerful resource that can be used to bring people together and empower communities to thrive.
Our organization recognizes its privilege in our efforts to chip away at the food system’s flaws – and we are ready to rebuild them in ways that are sustainable and provide outcomes rooted in justice. We are ready to listen and to learn in order to support a growing community that has plenty of fresh and healthy food on the table. Together, we have the resources. We have the will. We have the opportunity to forge liberated choice.
Going forward, we will continue to educate ourselves and share what we learn with you. We will continue to do the work necessary for change and show our communities what our food system can be.
We exist because there is a problem.
