Getting The Food To The People
There are a lot of problems in the world today, but consistent access to fresh, healthy, and affordable food should not be one of them.
Our model, Healthy Corner Stores (HCS), is to partner with corner/convenience stores in food deserts around the city to help them sell healthy food. We manage everything for the convenience stores we align with; from purchase and maintenance of the refrigeration, to daily rotation of the produce. There is really no risk for the small business owners.
- We provide the coolers and basket racks
- We deliver and replace fresh produce every day
- We eliminate the investment risk for store owners by replacing spoiled food at no cost to the store
- We share our food sales with the store owners which increases their bottom line sales by at least 10%
We work with local wholesalers to source quality produce year-round. Part of our sustainability comes from donated produce that wholesalers were preparing to throw out. We sort through and stock only quality produce in our stores, the rest is composted with the local farmers.
We distribute more than 50,000 pounds of fresh produce every month across 27 stores.
And with more than 15 on our waitlist, we can’t wait to begin to see food insecurity diminish the more we scale.
