HUNGER ACTION MONTH
September 1st - 30th, 2024
According to Feeding America, Missouri is one of the states facing the highest hunger rate, with an estimated 12.2% of Missourians experiencing hunger – and Kansas City is no exception.
That’s 1 in 8 Kansas Citians experiencing some form of food insecurity, with children often at the front lines. A survey conducted by After The Harvest found that 1 in 6 children in our area are affected. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
September is Hunger Action Month and Kanbe’s Markets is taking steps to make nutritious food accessible to more of our community. Here’s how you can join us.
All month long, Kanbe’s Markets is partnering with bars and restaurants across Kansas City to raise funds that will help people experiencing food insecurity in KC access wholesome, nutritious food.
Check out the lineup below and keep scrolling for more details on participating locations.

Ready to increase your impact? Here are three more ways you can make a difference during Hunger Action Month:
Volunteer at our warehouse – on your own, with a friend, or as part of a group – and play a hands-on role in making sure more people have access to quality fruits and vegetables.
Sign up for our newsletter, where we’ll be sharing the updates on this month’s community events and more perspectives on the importance of Hunger Action Month.
Make a donation to Kanbe’s Markets to support food access this September, or join our Grassroots Growers program to bring fresh food to more people on a monthly basis.
Funds raised will directly contribute to helping our neighbors who are experiencing food insecurity with better access to a satisfying, nutritious meal on their own terms.
Each dollar raised through this campaign will go toward creating a flagship Kanbe’s Markets Healthy Corner Store, a new access point for high-quality produce at affordable prices in low income and low access areas which otherwise do not have these opportunities.
